- Security of ICT systems
- Novel components for advanced communication systems
eGovernment solutions. The goal is to develop an electronic date as a base for auditable, accountable and transparent time stamping service. It will be achieved through implementation of FP6 project BALTICTIME the overall objective of which is to develop and demonstrate the legal digital time stamping system based on National Time Standard Authority.
Research, teaching and project preparation activities in ICT security sector are carried out together with Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. To enhance these activities, a Protech-University joint laboratory of IT security has been established.
Development of components for advanced communication systems is mainly related with efforts to apply the expertise of Protech researchers in material science to develop planar structures for fiber optic communication systems (FW7 project HiPERSiWA has recently been submitted) and structures X-rays focusing. In this area, ProTech works in close collaboration with EU and Russian scientists.
Projects
BALTICTIME - Reinforcing eGovernment services in Baltic States through legal and accountable Digital Time Stamp. FP6 project.

The overall objective of the ongoing BALTICTIME project is to develop the legal and accountable digital time stamping (DTS) system providing the layer of Trust in eGovernmental transaction environment and to demonstrate DTS system performance for time critical functions or validation data for digital signatures. In such a way level of the confidence and accountability of the service eligible for employment in eGovernment services will be created and integral for Europe solution for TSA having strong potential to overcome existing fragmentation will be introduced.
RESCUE - Central & Eastern European SMEs towards RES. FP6 project.
http://www.rescue-eu.net
The main objective of the RESCUE project is to facilitate and encourage involvement of SMEs from
Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC) of the renewable energy sector in the EU FP6 and FP7
research activities, by means of identification and elimination of barriers that limit their
participation. It will help them to shift to more R&D intensive activities and meet coming
market expectations; and ensure that CEECs will become attractive and highly-performing partners in the European Research Area.
In this project ProTech developed the RESCUE SME Database consisting the information on CEE SMEs working or being interested in renewable energy fields. It has the following purposes: 1) facilitate partner search and cooperation between SMEs and other categories of firms and researchers; 2) improve awareness of SMEs' expertise and optimize their chances for involvement in EU RTD activities under FPs; 3) provide a source of SMEs from CEECs with well defined competencies.
