Energy saving technologies
The debate on global warming has initiated the search for environment-friendly alternatives to maintain our current living standards and level of activity. "Passive" house could be identified as combination of environment friendly and energy saving technologies leading to drastically reduced utility costs and increased living standards for inhabitants. The design of the passive house is oriented to make maximum exploitation of passive technologies, assuring a comfortable indoor climate during summer and winter without needing any conventional heating or cooling system.
The Applied Research Institute for Prospective Technologies in collaboration with Vilnius Gediminas Technical University is working in the field of "passive" house applications and components in Lithuania. The main activities include:
- Insulation of building envelope constructions
- Research on building geometry and orientation
- Development of highly insulated building materials
- Utilization of solar energy technologies for effective use in passive house
- Utilization of high efficiency ventilation and heating systems
- Testing of thermal building elements parameters
- Advanced technologies for technical monitoring and evaluation of systems
ProTech working with energy sector enterprices identified problems of energy saving related to turbines' oil filtration. To solve these problems solutions based on Protech core expertises and technology transfer of pertinent research institutions were suggested.
